And just some other cute pictures I had to add:

Almost Crawling

Jake is soooooo close to crawling. He is pushing his bottom all the way up, and starting to get his middle section off the ground! He is able to push himself backwards and can still get around by rolling.....but I believe crawling could be any day now!

Also, he has been practicing pulling up- he is grabbing on to my arms and pulling up with my assistance. He is starting to pull up on furniture too, which he did for the first time when his Nana and Papa were here- he pulled up on the side of one of his toy bins (with just a little help)....and it was so exciting, we were all cheering him on and clapping- which made him very proud of himself!

Oh yeah, I haven't mentioned yet.....Jake went for his f/u helmet appt last week and he did so well that he gets to wear it less often now (only while sleeping and in his carseat/stroller). He will get it off for good in December!

Barbecue Festival

Jason's brother Aaron came over on Saturday with his family and we all went to the Lexington Barbecue Festival, which is supposed to be one of the top ten food festivals in the country. Jake had a great time hanging out with his cousins!

Look at Jake checking out this person dressed up in a dog costume....aren't kids supposed to be afraid of things like that....not Jake- he is the most social baby I have ever seen!

Nana and Papa

Jake had the best visit with his Nana and Papa, who came in town to see him from Oct. 20th-23rd. Jake enjoyed hanging out and showing Nana and Papa how he could run around in his walker. He tried chocolate for the first time during their visit....and he loved the Oreo cookie milkshake his Papa shared with him at Chick-fil-a! The visit was so much fun, but way too short!

Jake got this really neat Alphabet Puzzle Mat while they were here- thanks Nana and Papa!! Here he is playing blocks with his Nana on his new mat:

And later, after they left.....the playing continued:

Here he is enjoying another cool toy he got, which has a bunch of different gadgets and levers for him to push and pull and turn (great source of entertainment!) Thanks again Nana and Papa for all of the great gifts you got for Jake- he is really enjoying them!

Fall in the Mountains

Jake got to visit with his Nanny this past week in the Mountains of NC. We stayed in a nice cabin at Beech Mountain outside of Banner Elk, which is near Boone, NC. Here are some pictures we got from our trip- this was the perfect place to enjoy Fall:

It was so beautiful during our visit- it was peak leaf season while we were there. All of the Fall colors were absolutely breathtaking!

Nine Months Old

Jake turned 9 months old on October 4th (wow) -the time has gone by so fast. He had his 9 month check up today and his stats are:

Weight: 23.2 lb (90th)
Length: 30.0 in (95th)
Head: 18.0 in (95th)

He wore an 18 month old outfit to his checkup. So in case you haven't realized by now how big he is, now you know!! And he is still cute as anything! Here are his 9 month pictures:

Jake has been trying to figure out how to crawl, which until recently I thought he was going to skip altogether. But lately he stays on his tummy for longer periods, pushing up and reaching for toys. He could roll from room to room if he wanted to, but he definitely prefers his walker. And he is in to everything these days, reaching out for and grabbing anything in site (which has mommy running around after him all day). He babbles mama and dada frequently and it sounds like he says "uh-oh" when he drops something. And the cutest thing of all....when we give him a blanket, he covers up his face with it and we say "where's Jake" and then he throws down the blanket so that we can see him, at which point we say "there he is" (and then we all laugh and do it again!) Too cute! He is growing so fast, the last 9 months have been so special for us.....we can't wait to see what the next 9 months have in store for us!! We love you little guy :)

Fall Festival

We had a great time walking around the Fall Festival this weekend. Jake loved checking out all of the people and getting to enjoy a couple of bites of funnel cake!

Here we are on the first day, which was much hotter than the next day at the festival. Jake was so funny when we took his shoes off- he stuck both of his legs way out of the stroller so he could feel some air on his feet!
