17 Months

Jake turned 17 months old yesterday- he seems more and more grown up every day. He had fun playing in the little pool in front of the house, but I really need to take him to the big pool soon- he loves the water!



Later that night, we took him to a free concert the City put on in the park. They hold this free concert series throughout the summer months here. That night happened to be Blue Grass, so that was really fun! Here are some pictures of Jake enjoying the evening:







This past month, Jake seemed to grow much more aware of what was going on around him. When you talk to him, he has a look in his eyes like he is really starting to pay attention and comprehend what you are saying. He continues to say more words- he even floored us the other day by saying "crocodile". One of us had just said the word and he repeated it almost perfectly, we almost fell out of our seats!

His climbing skills have continued to grow. He can get higher on the playground set pretty much on his own now. He loves to climb into his stroller by himself. And really loves to fasten the seat belt. He will stand by his stroller for 20-30 minutes sometimes, just playing with the seat belt latches and trying to get them fastened. He is amazing and so, so smart!

Cousins

Here are some cute pictures of Jake with some of his NC cousins. Jason's brother and family came into town for a visit last weekend. Jake had so much fun showing his cousins all his toys and playing ball outside with them afterward. It was such a great visit!

Lefty

We have been thinking for awhile now that Jake is left handed, but lately we have been stating it as a fact! He does everything with his left hand. He eats, throws a ball, and even scribbles with his left hand. As you can see in these pictures that's how he is eating his yogurt:





Jake has several left handed relatives on both sides of his family, so I guess it makes perfect sense that he would be left handed too!

Pillows

One of Jake's new things is wanting us to put all the pillows that are on the bed in his room into his crib when gets up from his nap. He points to one of them and says his version of "pillow" and repeats this until they are all in his crib.

Back with Daddy

Jake was so happy to see his Daddy again after our trip to Texas. Jason didn't get to go with us- so the two of them were really missing each other:

Texas

Earlier this week, Jake and I got back from our trip to Texas. Here are some cute pictures from our trip:







Jake had so much fun spending time with his Nana and Papa, as well as his Texas cousins, Aunts, Uncle, Dante, and GG! Jake loved exploring and opening up all those new cabinets. He was really talkative also- still can't completely understand what he is saying, but he is definitely talking up a storm! He did say quite a few words we could understand though (cheese, dog, keys, car, Papa). He actually did very well for all that traveling he did during the trip. And now that I know how good he is on the airplane, we will have to take a few more trips while he can still fly for free!

Kentucky

We just got back home from two back to back trips- so I haven't had time to post pictures in awhile! Here are some cute pictures from our trip to Kentucky during Mother's Day weekend:
