"More treats, More treats!"

This was Jake's first year to go Trick-or-Treating, and it was absolutely amazing! The town we are living in has a very well preserved historic district with really neat specialty shops. We decided to take Jake trick-or-treating in this downtown area because the houses are so neat around there too. But we had no idea that it would be such an event!

I always thought the Halloween experiences I had growing up were really cool, but I have never seen anything like this before. There were crowds and crowds of people, all of the houses were decorated, and most of the adults (and dogs) were dressed up too! The people giving out candy were all sitting out on their porches with Halloween themed walkways and family members in spooky costumes. Jake was a little overwhelmed at first.....but it didn't take long before he was yelling out, "more treats, more treats!"

There was even a little band playing eerie gypsy music:

Jason and I had a blast, and Jake absolutely loved it! What a great first trick-or-treating experience!

Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat!

Happy Halloween!!

Settling In

Here are some pictures taken of Jake over the past couple of weeks. We are starting to settle in and call this place our "new home". We have really been loving everything about this town, it is perfect for us!

Here we are on a hike:

The End of the Rainbow

When Jason's Dad (Pops) referred to our move out West before we left, he kept saying we were going to the end of the rainbow. So, we thought it was pretty neat that a rainbow (it's actually a double rainbow if you look closely) appeared the day we were unloading everything!

Here's a picture from one of our first mornings here (it was cold at first, but has since gotten warmer):

I think we are really going to enjoy it here! We have really loved it so far. We'll be sure to keep you all informed of how everything is going as we start to settle in a little more!

Going Out West

Here are some pictures from our road trip (Sept. 28th-Oct. 5th) during our move out West. We took a short pit stop in Kentucky to visit with Nanny at the beginning of our trip, but spent every day after that on the road. It was a long trip, but a great one....one we will always remember!

Out to eat one night:

Rest area in Nebraska:

This rest area in Nevada was neat because it had a playground (it was really windy while we were there):

And one of our last stops, also in Nevada (and also very windy):
