World's Biggest Snowman

These pictures were actually taken the same morning as the pictures I posted in the last blog. It is amazing how quickly the snow melted when the sun came out. But before it was completely gone, Jason and Jake had fun making the World's Biggest Snowman:

The making of the snowman:

The "ice cream" break:

It was a great morning enjoying the snow. A little different than this past weekend's snowstorm that brought a 3 day power outage along with it!

Here are some pictures of Jason and Jake sledding down the hill during the power outage this past weekend. It was a little harder getting out in the snow this time, knowing that you couldn't go in and take a hot shower afterward! Good thing Jason didn't seem to mind, because Jake loved that he took him sledding for the first time:

The snow was a lot of fun, but we're kind of hoping it's done for the season! It is so nice to have the power back on!!

More Snow!

Wow! The snow seemed to let up by Friday night, so we were really surprised to wake up to this on Saturday morning:

Jake absolutely loved playing outside in all this snow. He really is at a great age to enjoy it- he could have stayed out in it all day! Just thought I would add some scenic pictures as well, because it was just so beautiful:

Amazing- just like a Winter Wonderland! And here was the view from the front and back of the house:

Snow Day

A lot of snow just came our way- here we are enjoying it yesterday! These frog rain boots I just got for Jake really came in handy for this weather. He doesn't seem to mind that they are two sizes too big- in fact, he practically hasn't even taken them off since he got them:

Happy Valentine's Day

This past Friday, Jake celebrated Valentine's Day with his preschool class. Here is one of the Valentine's cards that Jake helped make for the other little kiddos in his class:

And here are the cute little Valentine's he received from them:

And today....he had a "Super Jake" Valentine's Day. He had fun flying around the house wearing his cape- too cute!

Hugs and Kisses little guy- love you! Hope you all had a very Happy Valentine's Day- we love you all so much!

Nana and Papa's Visit

Jake had so much fun when Nana and Papa came to visit this past week! They stayed for a nice long one week visit- so he had plenty of time to show them all his favorite places. He even got to show them his new school, which they thought was really neat. We also had fun walking around the specialty shops downtown and going to see the South Yuba River. It was such nice weather while they were here too, so that was great! Here are some pictures from their visit:

One of the really neat things about Nana and Papa's visit is that they took the train over from Denver. So- although Jake was sad to see them go, he thought it was really neat to wait for the train and watch it take off!

But as soon as we got back in the car after the train left- Jake started crying, "PaaaPaa!, PaaaaPaaa!" It was sad, but really cute at the same time!

Love you Nana and Papa, we had a great visit and can't wait for the next one!

Terrific Twos

Well, we've got a little two year old running around now! Hope you all enjoyed the video- just thought I would add some pictures from Jake's 2nd birthday as well:

Wow- it is so hard to believe that Jake is already 2 yrs old. It seems like I was just putting the slide show together for his 1st birthday blog. I guess it has been a busy year for us- full of learning and growing! Jake is such a smart little boy, everyone is always so surprised by how much he already knows and can say. He is talking up a storm these days, rattling off sentences left and right. Many have commented on how large his vocabulary is for just being 24 months old. He has always been so curious and observant of everything- and he loves for us to read books to him.

Jake has been interested in puzzles and matching games lately as well. He can label most colors correctly now and has also started counting. Some of the other activities he has been into these days include: drawing, play-doh, watching Elmo, digging, building, and playing with his cars and trucks. He loves going to school and the park or just hanging out around the house, digging and playing outside. And he is absolutely adorable when we go to the grocery store. He runs and grabs his own little shopping cart they have available for children to push around, puts all our groceries in there, and then helps the cashier unload them all. Everyone at the store thinks he is the cutest thing ever. And I must say...I have to agree with them!

The past year has been a really great one for us. It was so fun to watch all the different stages that Jake went through from crawling to walking and talking, then off to running and rattling off sentences. It's been amazing, every single part of it- and we can't wait to see what the next year has in store for us! We love you big boy :) Happy Happy 2nd birthday- here's to the Terrific Twos!!
