Thanksgiving Trip

Some pictures from our Thanksgiving trip to Kentucky!  We had an early Christmas celebration with Nanny while we were there.  Here we are opening presents:

Lucy was so worn out from all the fun, she fell asleep in her high chair:

The kids always love going down to the barn lot while we are visiting.  I remembered to bring my camera this time, so I was able to get some great pictures of them enjoying this experience:

Jake loves feeding the animals, especially our favorite mule (Festus):

Another great trip!  We can't wait until next time!!
Thanks for everything Nanny!!!

Thanksgiving Feast

It was Jake's last day of class before Thanksgiving today, so they had Thanksgiving Feast at his preschool.  It was so cute- they came out on stage first (all dressed up) and sang songs before eating their lunch:

The pictures below are kind of fuzzy, but hopefully you can still spot Jake (he is slightly left of center).  He was too cute, clapping the whole time:

It was so much fun!  I really enjoyed watching Jake up there on stage today.  He is getting to be such a big boy now.  So proud of you Jake!!

Birthday Girl

Here are some pictures that were taken on Lucy's 1st birthday!  It was such a good one!!

Look who figured out how to walk, all by herself, exactly on her birthday...our little ray of light:

Lucy was actually walking holding onto one of our hands really well in the weeks leading up to her birthday.  She was even letting go and walking short distances by herself.  But it wasn't until the actual day of her birthday that she really realized she could do it all by herself.  And she was walking all over the place, it was so great, and really added to the excitement of the day.  Look at her, so proud of herself (as we are of her):

Here she is chilling out with her brother after we made her birthday cake.  Jake is the one who decided it was going to be a chocolate cake with chocolate icing!

And the birthday song (we decided to enjoy the cake before going out to eat since there was going to be plenty of dessert at the restaurant).  Happy birthday dear Lucy, happy birthday to you...

Getting ready to go eat...

What would a first birthday be without celebrating at the GC:

And here she is having fun when we got back home.  I think she is really going to enjoy this whole walking thing:

It was such a great day, and certainly the best way to complete what has been a wonderful year!

Lucy has been nothing short of amazing.  She is the squirmiest, wiggliest,  most active baby you have ever seen.  She is a go-getter and an adrenaline junkie (just like her dad)!  She is so beautiful and so smart (just like her brother)!  And she lights up a room every time she smiles :)  We have loved every single second of this past year with Lucy, we can't imagine our lives without her.

Here are the stats from Lucy's 12 month check-up on Friday:

Weight:  20 lbs 11 oz (60%)
Height:   30 and 1/4 in (85%)
Head:     18 (75%)

They just keep growing and growing, don't they (too fast) ?!  I know I have focused a lot on Lucy's motor development over the past year, b/c it was just so amazing to watch how quickly she went from one skill to the next.  But Lucy seems to figure things out quickly when it comes to everything!  She is already saying- Dada, Mama, (and what sounds like) Jake, doggie, kitty-cat, and hey.  She can point to any one of these things when she sees the picture in her books.  And she can sing "ee-i-ee-i-o" (but she leaves out the "o" part) when she is singing Old MacDonald had a farm with her daddy and brother (and it is the cutest thing you have ever heard)!

Lucy, you have made the past year a really special one for all of us.  We can't imagine our life any other way now.  We love you girl and can't wait to see what this next year has in store for us.  Happy Birthday baby!!

Happy 1st Birthday

Lucy\ l(u)-cy\ as a girl's name is of Latin origin, and the meaning of the name is "light".

Happy birthday baby girl- we couldn't think of a better way to show how much light you have brought to our life this past year:

Trick-or-Treating

Above are some pictures we took right before we went trick-or-treating with Jake and Lucy last night.  Jake had two costumes for Halloween this year.  He was a police officer during the day and then spider-man came out at night!  And Lucy was a pumpkin (or actually, I guess she was technically a jack-o-lantern).  Whatever it was, she was cute!  It was really fun trick-or-treating in our neighborhood this year.  This was the first time that Jake really knew what was going on with the whole trick-or-treating thing and he really enjoyed it:

There was a huge Halloween celebration downtown that we went to as well.  Jake was able to do some more trick-or-treating there and he got to meet the "real" spider-man!  Once we made it back home, there were still several different groups of kiddos out and about.  Jake loved getting to pass out candy to them:

Another great Halloween!  Next up... Lucy's 1st birthday :)
