Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had a fun and busy weekend, as there were three different holiday fairs/festivals we went to. That is one of the really neat things about this town, there always seems to be something going on! Here are some pictures of us enjoying the weekend:

At some of the festivals:

Jake got a little tired while we were trying to find parking for this one:

And Jason hard at work cooking our Thanksgiving dinner (yum, yum):

And trying to decide who ate the most:

Another great Thanksgiving! Hope you had a good one too- we missed you all!

First Snow

We got our first snow this past weekend. Well, I should really say.....first snow storm, which caused us to lose power for 4 days. Wow- you don't realize what you've got 'til it's gone! Thank goodness for the wood burning stove in our living room :) Here are some pictures of Jake enjoying it, he didn't seem to mind the power outage one bit. In fact, I think he actually enjoyed it b/c he got to sleep on a big pallet in the living room and carry a flashlight around!

"New School"

Here are some pictures of Jake on his first day of school, which he started here this week. He is attending school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as a Parent-Toddler group on Fridays. And just as in NC, his teachers said he never cried or looked for me. So, it seems that he is really going to enjoy it!

And later that day after waking up from his nap:

Jake had to go for a physician check up in order to start childcare here. These are his stats:

Height: 36 in. (94%)
Weight: 30 lbs (80%)
Head: 19.49 in. (77%)

His doctor said if he keeps growing at this rate, Jake will be 6'4" by the time he is 17 yrs old!

South Yuba River

This past Saturday was a beautiful day, so we decided to get out and enjoy a hike at the South Yuba River State Park. It's hard to believe this is only 4 miles down the road from us!

Jake turned 22 months old this past week on my 33rd birthday! From the time we were packing up to move out here until now, Jake's language development has absolutely taken off. He is very talkative and knows tons of words now. He is even combining words into phrases (mama help me, dada play, back deck..bicycle).

Jake continues to be very social and says "hi" to practically everyone we walk past. It is hilarious when we walk past a man and he says, "hi guy". It's funny because they're not expecting it and it makes them smile every time! Jake is getting ready to start preschool here next week, so we'll let y'all know how it goes! Given how much he loved it in NC and how social he is, I am sure he will make out just fine :)
